Reports to: Senior Manager, Brand & Digital

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Developer will build and maintain custom websites for multiple stakeholders including Membership, Corporate Partnerships, the Vancouver Warriors, Aquilini Group, and Rogers Arena. The successful candidate will also implement and manage both custom and third-party applications, such as analytical tools and fan-facing engagement platforms. They will act as support liaison between CSE and NHL/BAMTECH on all digital fronts and maintain back-end infrastructure.

The incumbent isn’t simply a developer, they think and breathe user experience and constantly scour the internet for ideas, new technology, and ways to improve the connection between the team, corporate partners, and fans.

A typical day includes:

  • Building and managing custom internet-based applications and products to support digital strategy and brand goals and initiatives (microsites, landing pages, and articles on NHL CMS)
  • Maintaining digital back-end infrastructure, including ticketing feed
  • Leading usability tests and quality assurance for all digital and technology initiatives
  • Liaising with league partners on all digital updates and regulations
  • Developing and maintaining WordPress, Next.js and Vue.js sites across multiple business units
  • Supporting creation of contest activations for corporate partners
  • Managing projects, developing scope documents, project goals and requirements, and providing input towards practical solutions, ideas, and time estimation
  • Assisting in implementation of web-based tools to better understand our fans’ web interactions
  • Researching opportunities for emerging technologies and recommending strategies for internal objectives

YOU MUST HAVE:

  • At least two years of development experience
  • Degree or diploma in computer science or related discipline
  • Source control management using Git
  • Experience with web frameworks and static site generators such as React.js and Next.js
  • Experience with JavaScript, HTML, and CSS
  • Server management including virtualization using Docker, DigitalOcean, and Heroku, and an in-depth understanding of the Linux operating system
  • Excellent problem solving skills and the ability to analyze current problems and implement solutions
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proven ability to work under pressure while juggling multiple tasks
  • Acute attention to detail

YOU MAY ALSO HAVE:

  • Experience using WordPress and other CMS platforms
  • Knowledge of web security techniques and best practices
  • Experience designing and visualizing high-level, multi-system architecture
  • Knowledge of integrating 3rd-party platforms via API’s, SDK’s, etc.
  • Knowledge of ETL tools and techniques (Pandas, Python, PowerBI)
